Low rpm rumbling/vibration - TDI 1.9 What would you do?

My 1.9 tdi went in for a long life Service last week having done 35k+ miles. I mentioned to the V-dub stealer that at between 1100 to 1300rpm, whether cold or warm, the engine has recently started to rumble/vibrate quite loudly, over and above the normal engine rev noise. Above those revs, the sound goes and I just hear the normal low level clanky deisel engine sound you'd expect. It almost sounds like a screw is loose on a cover or bit of plastic under the bonnet! I am normally hearing it for a second or two when pulling away in 1st as you expect at low rpm. They serviced and MOT'ed it (duly ripping me off of course) and told me they investigated but found nothing wrong and informed me it 'is probably normal 1.9 deisel engine noise...'. I dont think so! Anyone had similar experience or can give some advice? The car is exactly 3 yrs old in a couple of weeks. I am wanting to get it back to them (even though they werent any help) and think I need to do this sharpish to be within the warranty. And (touch wood) I have never had any other problems with the car or taken it back to them, having bought it from the same dealer after 6.5k on the clock. Thoughts, ideas and opinions please.
Many thanks....

Correction, the better half (better memory!) reminds me we took it back Xmas 2008 to get the seat belt unit replaced as we couldn't plug into it, in and out in a couple of hours so slipped my memory!
I cant believe this is normal noise and although I dont drive it as much as my wife, she is adamant it is a recent occurrence and I certainly dont remember it rumbling/vibrating like that, when pulling away, when we first got it otherwise I would have taken it back before. It makes the noise when stationary, lightly getting the revs up just above idling. Fella I work with has a golf 1.9td and his sounds completely different

We also had the seatbelt problem- at the time I wondered if dirt had got into it but not so sure hearing you've had the same. Wondered if that could have resulted in the belt popping out in a crash?

Take it straight back and get it checked out by a licence tech.
If that was done at our place , a return visit is fround uppon, and get delt with straight away.
Plus as it was noted in the warrenty period, and it gets worse when outside this, it will be covered.
Are you local to me? if so i could take a look for you..

Hi my 2005 TDI had a similar low RPM rattle noise at idle etc which was RPM sensitive after a bit of head scratching it was the fuel filter canister which clips in the front driver side wheel arch in the engine bay which was slightly loose and vibrating. I moved it about and placed a small packer in place and that sorted it could be worth looking at as it will take you about 2 mins to check it out.

Sounds like the Duel Mass Flywheel (DMF), vibration goes away after 1500 rpm, very common fault with DMF's. Get it replaced under warrenty, anything from £700-£1000 to replace and dont let them charge you for the clutch unit.
Good luck
